As soon as the Deerster Monday comes, it's Caroller's time. He gets up early, takes the Deerster whip braided from willow rods and a basket and runs out to spank all deer ladies in order to keep their health, beauty and fertility for the next whole year. Crazy traditions, isn't it? In order to collect as many eggs as possible, Caroller teaches the rest of the deer boys a new carol every year. He puts all the collected eggs on his 1,5 x 2 cm large ink blue coat, they are in Irish green, baby blue, lemon yellow, nacreous white, marshmallow, papaya and fuchsia colours. When the coat is fully covered with eggs, the deer girls decorate Caroller's bottom with stones.
